At the Malverne School of Music, our teachers are not only skilled in many instruments and musical composition, but are kind and compassionate teachers as well. Meet our staff to learn more about the expertise we bring to each facet of learning music.

Steve Tice

Director

Steve graduated from Messiah College, Pennsylvania, in 1981 with a Bachelors of Science degree in Music Education and a concentration in Piano. He continued his education at Ohio University where, in 1983, he received a Masters of Music degree in Composition and also completed course work in Music Theory. He began teaching piano at the Malverne School of Music in 1985 and became the Director in 1989. In addition to holding several Church Music Director positions over the last 25 years he accompanies and performs throughout the NY Metro area. In 2013 he completed a Doctorate from the Robert E. Webber Institute for Worship Studies in Jacksonville, FL.

Audrey Tice

Co-director

As co-director with her husband Steve, Audrey enjoys many levels of involvement at the Malverne School of Music. She has been teaching private music lessons for over 30 years. She has vast experience and excellent rapport with students of all ages, from senior citizens to college music majors to 5 year olds. Mrs. Tice's education includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education from Messiah College as well as a Master of Music degree in Clarinet Performance and Woodwind Pedagogy from Ohio University. In addition to her work at the music school, she has also been performing in a wide variety of venues, including local community orchestras, community theater, weddings, and church worship bands. She especially enjoys performing as a family with her husband and two adult sons.

Nicole Dalto

Teacher

Nicole is a graduate of New York University, where she earned a Bachelor's Degree of Music in musical theatre vocal performance. She teaches voice to K-12 students at the Malverne School of Music. Nicole is also an actor and a proud member of the Actors' Equity Association. She originated the role of "Susan" in the Off-Broadway premiere of Head Voice, written by Ethan Andersen. Nicole was also in the original cast of Miss Mayor, Next Thing You Know, The Hole, and Shooting Star. Nicole sings at many concerts and benefits in Manhattan, most recently at 54 below and the Laurie Beechman. Nicole enjoys sharing with students her joy of singing and performing. It is a great privilege for her to teach voice at Malverne school of Music.

Jordan Bak

“A young artist to watch for,” (Seattle Pi) Jordan Bak is an Artist Diploma violist at The Juilliard School and an alumnus of The Malverne School of Music, where he teaches viola, violin, and piano. Jordan came to our school at age 3 to study piano with the Director, Mr. Steve Tice. A Sphinx Organization alum and MPower Artist Grant recipient, Jordan Bak won the 2017 Juilliard Concerto Competition and the Special Prize from the Verbier Festival. Currently, he is on the roster of the Jupiter Symphony Chamber Players and can be heard as a recitalist and chamber musician in the United States and in Europe.

Bernadette Tornabene

Teacher

Bernadette is a NYS certified teacher who has been teaching in the school system for over 20 years. She holds both my BM and MA degree in Music Education, and Jazz guitar was her major instrument in college. Her system of guitar training includes work in music reading, music theory, fretboard navigation, pick-control and fingerstyle techniques, and ear-training applicable to most contemporary styles of music.

Sarah Ludwiczak

Teacher

Sarah began her music training at age 8, playing violin for various orchestras, including Gemini Youth Orchestra. She participated in numerous festivals including NYSSMA. In 9th grade, she began the viola as a secondary instrument. She graduated from Hofstra University with a scholarship for music education, where she studied with Christina Meyer and Dr. Alexander Sharpe. She has been teaching at the Malverne School of Music since the summer of 2000. Sarah holds a Masters in Music Education and a NYS teaching license for K-12 in General Education and Students with Disabilities 1-6. Utilizing her talent in violin, viola, violoncello and contrabasso, Sarah is a seasoned string specialist with years of experience.
